LGSETA Partners with CCIEEC to Empower 270 Candidates with Training Opportunities in China
The Local Government Sector Education and Training Authority (LG SETA) is committed to enhancing skills development and fostering impactful partnerships within the local government sector. In line with this commitment, LGSETA has partnered with the Chinese Culture and International Education Exchange Centre (CCIEEC) to support skills development initiatives for infrastructure, youth employment, and entrepreneurship.
This partnership aims to provide training and upskilling opportunities for 270 candidates, including employees, unemployed youth, and business individuals operating within the local government sector. The primary objective of the partnership is to identify municipalities willing to partner with Chinese sister cities to support skills development interventions for municipal candidates, including officials, unemployed youth, and business persons.
The LGSETA has been engaging with the various District Municipalities to benefit from this international support program partnership. This initiative seeks to address key service delivery improvements through skills development, ultimately contributing to sustainable economic growth and enhancing the quality of life for all residents within communities.
The project objectives include:
- Ensuring employment opportunities for unemployed youth candidates in South Africa from Chinese enterprises, with a focus on roles such as e-commerce and online business.
- Facilitating entrepreneurship among unemployed youth candidates in the e-commerce sector.
- Supporting the incubation and growth of small businesses owned by candidate entrepreneurs.
- Enhancing the skills of South African municipal management and personnel.
This project aligns with LG SETA’s strategic objectives of implementing special projects with strategic partners to drive sector goals and increasing workplace-based learning through discretionary grants.
By forging partnerships and empowering candidates with international training opportunities, LGSETA aims to significantly contribute to skills development and economic growth within the local government sector.
