FROM AIRWAVES TO ACTION: LGSETA CEO ENGAGES YOUTH ON MOTSWEDING FM
On 16 June 2025, a day commemorating the courage and legacy of South Africa’s youth, LGSETA CEO Mr. Ineeleng Molete joined Motsweding FM for a live radio broadcast that reached thousands of listeners across the country. This Youth Day dialogue formed part of LGSETA’s broader campaign to connect directly with young people and encourage them to actively shape their futures within the local government sector.
Mr. Molete’s message centred on empowerment through skills development and lifelong learning. He urged young South Africans to diversify their skills, remain adaptable, and view learning as a tool not just for employment, but for contributing to national growth.
During the discussion, the CEO outlined:
- Emerging career opportunities within the local government sector
- Critical and scarce skills needed to meet current and future demands
- How LGSETA is creating pathways to employment through bursaries, learning programmes, and international partnerships
He also highlighted the importance of the LGSETA Sector Skills Plan as a practical guide for aligning studies with real market demand. While the world of work is evolving rapidly, Mr. Molete reminded listeners that gaps still exist—gaps that today’s youth are uniquely positioned to fill.
Broadcast on one of the country’s most widely listened-to stations, this engagement went beyond a formal address. It was a strategic effort to meet young people where they are—at home, in cars, in communities—bringing the message of opportunity and empowerment directly to them.

This initiative is part of LGSETA’s Youth Month campaign under the theme: “Skills for the Changing World – Empowering Youth for Meaningful Economic Participation.” As part of this campaign, similar dialogues will be hosted across provinces in partnership with youth-centred platforms.
By leveraging platforms like Motsweding FM, LGSETA continues to amplify its impact—not only informing, but inspiring the next generation of leaders to realise their potential and seize the opportunities available to them.
