Governance

The Board is LGSETA's Accounting Authority. As the highest governing structure, the Board provides strategic leadership for LGSETA; it provide assurance to all stakeholders that LGSETA is fulfilling its obligations in terms of the LGSETA constitution and the Skills Development Act, and reports to the Minister of Higher Education and  Training as the Executive Authority of SETA

Board and Committees

The LGSETA  is a schedule 3 public entity established in terms of Section 9(1) of the Skills Development Act (SDA), No 97 of 1998. The mandate of the LGSETA is to facilitate skills development in the local government sector.  On 31 March 2020 , the Minister of Higher Education and Training, Dr Blade Nzimande appointed the Accounting Authority with effect from 1 April 2020 to 31 March 2025.  
The Accounting Authority (Board) comprises of representatives from Organised Employer and Organised Employee and is supported by four Sub-committees: Executive, Audit and Risk, Finance and Remuneration.
